Bit the bullet and ordered a small winch from the same folk I got the last one from. 2500lbs (overkill I know, but it'll never be under any great strain)   Ordered first thing tues morning, arrived today !
Full specs. 1 HP permanent magnet motor, 2.5k lbs, wired remote, twin wireless remotes, fairlead, mount plate. With the discount code from eBay, £58 to the door. :D

Just shy of 2.5 stone. (15kg) gonna take a trip down the local engineering firm and get a plate cut/drilled to match up with mount plate for the inside.

Christ that heavy maybe think about swapping the steel cable  for a synthetic one or shorten it  . Someone may even have a short piece of synthetic rope laying around .
