Has anyone heard any bad vibes (pun possible intended) about these prop shafts
Just got back from a trip to the Lake district (330 miles each way) and both the pinion oil seal and the out put seal of the SYE on the t/case are rather the worse for wear
other than the usual hum of m/ts and wind noise there were no indication of anything being wrong.
i know the o/side wheel is slightly out of true but it does effect the driving
any thoughts

Lord Tim....... Yes Bailey Morris are down the road from me and I had them rebuild the prop I Screwed following your directions at Breakout last year

It could be angles....... With a CV and normal axle yoke you should not be looking at a straight line
2 degrees below is the ideal so when you accelarate  the 2 degrees takes up the slack and stops abuse and wear.

and why would it be ok for nearly 2 years and then suddenly cause havoc

now the xenophobic little englander in me will find a reason

But you didn't do the stupid swampy bits Tim!

I think the TC seal has been known to wear out on those conversions. Pinion seals do weep sometimes, maybe worth checking for excessive movement of pinion up/down or a worn UJ in the prop causing wiggling that could get crap in the seal and oil out.

Just re-read this, 2 years offroading wears stuff out quick. I replace wheel hubs, ball joints, UJs and other parts at least this often. Just part of the fun.

what a w/end
The diff took over a litre of smelly oily stuff so was probably running on fumes for the last miles back from the lakes
so bugger all use to travel to s/sisters hence the trailer
on the way to pick up the trailer the waste gate problem reappeared on the patrol and wouldn't go away
so no way that was going to tow 2.75 tonnes up them welsh hills
so what to do...
oh sod it drive the patrol down any way
what fun going back to a basic truck where you have to actually choose lines rather that point and press accelerator
but bloody hell its the size of an atlantic liner with a belly problem i.e. there is acres between the wheels
