Guess what it failed the MOT on
« on: November 04, 2014, 02:29:07 PM »

just picked up the ZJ and it has failed it's MOT

all silly stuff
  • parking brake (that's a given)
  • one wiper not clearing (that's the one Tan stole to use on the Ford)
  • brake lights stay on (carpet was pushed up under the pedal)
  • and the only one that will cost, front brake pads to thin
all in all not bad as stood for quite a few months and not touched before taking it in for test,

2 minds now weather to keep it or sell it, want to sell it but as has Dan started work we now need a second car  :017:

4 little jobs to sort, well under a ton for parts and a morning's effort to get sorted - keep it! (unless you want to sell dirt cheap to me?)  :icon_twisted:

yea only £35 in parts but might be worth doing the discs, they are getting a bit thin, so add another £40

may well get it done but not this month as we need a new clutch in the GSXR,

buggy is moving slowly, my mates finally kicked out the Muppet that had left a car at his workshop for a year in the place I was going to have, so when he has caught up I will get the chassis over there and finish the welding, may even play with my new TIG, recon I got 30 hours to get a running, drivable buggy then another 50-80 hrs to make it pretty.

Thought as long as the brakes hit the required even braking force, they cant fail for pads or disks anymore, advisory only.

as I was told the discs can only fail if cracked or damaged (mine are not so advisory) but the pads need min 1.5mm which at least one pad is

I just MOT'd my £350 zj, failed on 3 bulbs, handbrake adjustment and one tyre the wrong size, was going to sell it on but I'm keeping it now as the tester remarked on how clean and rust free it was
