DTC Code 1265...
« on: August 23, 2015, 01:32:08 PM »

Hi,

Struggling to find the correct meaning of DTC code 1265 lots say No 3 glow plug, other lists state Fuel injector pump always on. I sure I also had one pointing to a Maff sensor connector fault...??

Our 2006 2.8CRD Cherokee drives fine just has the engine light on...

Any ideas...?

Thanks..

Try this....clear the codes, unhook the battery for 30 mins or so (make sure you have the radio code handy)...hook battery back up and try again.

Might work, might not, but worth a try.

You may be able to find a pdf version of the full official workshop manual online which will give the correct meaning of the fault code. It is sometimes harder to find the Diesel engine versions of the manuals but they are usually out there.

Clearing the code with a cheap scanner might be a good idea to see if it comes back - Baz's tip above might clear it too.

For useful help with diesel modern Jeeps try Ausjeepoffroad too - I found their help with the diesel Grand Cherokee I had very good.

Thanks for your replies, I have a cheap scanner which clears the code but it comes back. I have tried the disconnect the battery tip and I'm waiting to hear back from my wife who has gone on a three hour drive..

I come back with the out come...

Totally agree with what James says...my Cherokee CRD would act up every now and then and I asked on the AJOR forum (been a member for quite a few years) and the battery trick was the first thing they mentioned...it worked then and it still works  today.

You have a good memory Dutch...you provided that link to me years ago and it helped me out many times!!  :icon_super:

Just for info...there is little or no difference between the 2.5 and the 2.8CRDs...a bit of housekeeping in the engine compartment maybe, but nothing major!
