Removing clutch from 258?
« on: July 04, 2016, 10:28:35 PM »

Hi all.
I'm still here working away on my jeep. Half way through a ten year project :)

I have the engine out on a crane but had to unbolt back at the gearbox to get it out so it's still attached to the flywheel and clutch. I want to put the engine on an engine stand but cannot seperate the engin from the clutch.  The 7 bolts are off and I've managed a 1cm gap. Is it just a case of hitting the gap with a chisel or are there more bolts inside or something I could break.

Thaks in advance
Ken

Sounds like it just tight, maybe a little rust on the spigot bearing/input shaft. There is nothing else holding it on after the bell housing bolts are removed. Use a pry bar or 2 for that fact and jimmy it off.
