YJ tub on a CJ?
« on: April 27, 2006, 07:54:05 AM »

Guys,

I'm considering chucking a YJ tub on my CJ - I don't think my CJ tub can be recovered it's just shot to bits.  Question is doeas anybody have any idea where I might find an insurance write off YJ?

Also to aid the decision making process can I use the heating system from it?  (Is it any good???)  I already know I can use the power brakes and steering box.  I guess if I'm lucky I can use the screen surround too.  All helps to save cash since I need all of that stuff anyways.

Can I swap out the YJ rollover bar for a CJ one?

If I swap the bar will a CJ sunrider top fit a YJ tub or will I have to try and get the softop swapped for a YJ one?

yj and cj tubs are nearly identical you will have to cange some outriggers on the chassie the roll bars are interchangable.softtops are the same as far as im aware you could try charltons on 01223832656 they break a few yjs

the best bit about a yj tub is its gavlanised from the factory and if you can score one that still has its heater in it they are very good dang they actualy get warm hot even no more driving 700miles to demist the windscreen

Excellent.  I'm going to trawl all the local breakers this week.  If I get no joy I'll try GT and Charltons.  Had a look at the equicar one on the web - it's a bit too badly pranged.  You can see the front right corner of the tub is mangled.

Damn it, thought I'd found one in Glastonbury.  That was until I walked round the back and saw it was totally stoved in.

Mike the one on Jeepclub isn't the one I thought it was.  I was lookin at the '98 one.  I emailed the guy with the '96 - fingers crossed it's a YJ and it's got a sound tub.

Right then it's a YJ but I need some help.  The guy won't name a price, he wants me to make him an offer........

What would you lot say is a sensible offer for a YJ tub '96 complete with heating system and windshield?  No doors, hardtop, rollover bar etc.  JUST the tub.

Any thoughts?

Ric.

Have a word with UK Jeeper, he wants a roll bar assembly and rear belts for a late YJ. Might be able to get a deal on more bits.

With Bubba on this, I tried to buy one once, Chappy wanted £300. I thought I'd let him sweat it out, someone else happily paid him. It had heater, dash, windscreen with a bit of rot and roll cage.

Yeah I was already thinkin in sync with Bubba.  I've asked for some pics - if they're good I'll offer him £250.  If he pushes me up I'll go with it but insist he throws some other stuff in like brake booster......

Keep ya posted thnx for the advice.
