97 TJ Auto box

Yesterday whilst in low box 2nd or D i noticed that i was stuck in 1st and the auto box wasnt changing to 2nd.. After a razz around it eventually changed and all was ok.
On the way home i noticed that the box wasnt changing as it should, i was pulling away in 2nd rather tha 1st and at traffic lights i stopped and when the box would normally go straight into 1st it took a couple of seconds then i felt it change into 1st.
By the time i got home all was ok again, took it out this morning and all is sweet ..
i initially thought oh bllox 'auto breather problem' I'm going to have to sell one of the family to pay for this but having read my not so trusty manual it seems that it could be the fluid or the bands need adjusting or the throttle valve linkage..
I have checked the fluid it was changed about 3 weeks ago and it seems ok and not contaminated at the dipstick
The thing is the box seems ok now  but is it a sign that something could bost very soon...
Whats the best thing to do with it??

did you go in any deep water  i take it you have the torque flight 999 box

cool drain and refill its way cheaper than a rebuild you may not have got any water in but i rekon you got a smidge i rekon sealing the bellhousing is well worth a go

Don't know what year your Jeep is, but if it's the old 3 speed, check the usual stuff, oil level, band adjustment etc. Also, make sure the cooler pipes aren't crushed or something and the radiator isn't full of mud causing overheating. If you're a 4 speed, get the computer scanned for faults as it could be electrical.
