Cj7 one piece axle question
« on: May 24, 2018, 07:24:06 PM »

Hi all am in middle of fitting these one piece axles. Can anyone shed any light on why there's  a hole in the drive flange?

On the dana axles i think it gives you access to the mounting bolts that hold the axle shafts retainer plate on.
As you have gone to one piece axles it will be for the same reason i am guessing, instead of the removable (if you are lucky!) drive flanges you had before which would allow access to the bolt heads once removed.

yes indeed you are correct, its to get a socket on the retainer bolts.  very odd choice of design as it was no problem to get to retainer bolts with a spanner...
now i have a lovely hole in the end of my axle that not only looks odd, but will let all sorts of crap into the drum.  I never had center caps on my wheels  (just had rear rubber nut covers) so im thinking a pair of these would cover up and provide some protection? any one got any spare? thx
