No problems with my yellow top.  Been in since Feb 05 and has seen some pretty heavy winching.

If you have replaced it recently will you get it under guarantee?

yes it is under guarantee with patrick at specialist leisure..........it's just a pain getting it to him as geographically expensive.......i don't use the wrangler very much, and only factory immobiliser fitted the auxiliary optima runs both winches and compressor, it's a strange one will see how the other battery (from old faithful) performs over time as i wait for the replacement to arrive.

I seem to remember that there was a spate of Yellow Top problems a couple of years back.  It may be worth checking whether yours came from the same batch and, if so, seeing if you can get a replacement from another batch.

Just a thought.

the first optima battery lasted about a year the second lasted 7 weeks........the battery from old faithful has been good for nearly two years so if the silver wrangler brings it to u/s then i will think i have a problem with the truck.

The problem with yellow tops is that they are only a 55ah battery that happens to be very good at giving you 400+ amps for a short period of time and actually like being heavily discharged, during winching for example.
I use one on my diesel XJ works brilliant but if I leave my tailgate open for a morning, I've got no chance of starting it 5 days later.
Checked the capacity and it's still good, just not a particularly heavy duty battery and I think we forget that.

If the two are in parallel and are not dis-connected when not in use/Charging. I am led to believe that the one with more amperage left in it, will trickle charge the other and so on back and forth untill both batts are duff.

Could this be the problem?

Easiest way to sort is a manual switch to split them when the motor is not running.

like i said i have a painless wiring system the replacement optima (#two) is basically "fn" useless and after 5 years of using nothing else i'm starting to loose faith in them.

Right, been having a chin wag at work today and a couple of ideas have arisen.

First one, would be a bad earth. With so much water and crud its possible that an earth has be compromised somewhere in the circuit?
Another problem could be the compressor solenoid or release valve? If either one had a fault and are electronic then maybe this could be draining the battery?

Maybe of no use? But im try'in

I have heard so many good reports on the yellow tops, im suprised that it would be the batt, that many times?
