Snorkel's
« on: November 18, 2006, 07:00:55 PM »

Does anybody else out there make a snorkel for a 4.0l 94 XJ, apart from the ‘Safari Snorkel’?

Or has anybody made one of there own?

And one more thing just out of interest, is there anybody out there who lives in Cornwall? Asked the same question on the ‘Jeep Club’ website, and only got one reply!

Airflow do one but it won't work on ABS equipped Jeeps. You can order from http://http://www.dpgoffroad.com. I like the look of them and have no working ABS on my XJ, so just need to remove all the workings and then I'll be ordering.

As for Cornwall, I'm surprised you had so few responses on Jeepclub I think they organise a few Cornish events every year!? Try J33P, you may have to travel a bit but they have a south-west focus.

Thanks James,

The Airflow snorkels look nice (not a bad price either!). But I think I have ABS? Much better looking than the Safari Snorkel I think.

Richard, though your rig looked familiar. Picked up a copy of ‘4x4 mart’ a few days ago, and who is on page 48? Which snorkel have you got on in the main pic?

If you can’t find one, let me know and I will send you a copy. Got mine from W H Smith’s if that’s any help (buried by all the Land Rover mags!).

They have also started selling ‘Total Off Road’ too!!!!!!!

Yes Mick I think so. Decembers issue of '4x4 mart' has a picture of a Isuzu Rodeo on the front cover. But then again, there are that many mags with 4x4 in the title, it’s hard to tell.

There are about six pages dedicated to the ‘Jeep Cherokee XJ – The buyers guide’ With a few other pics of some modded Jeeps.

Simon

yep I'm the one who replied on JeepClub.  Have a look here:

http://www.jeepclub.co.uk/meets.cfm the next pub meet will be on the 13th Dec I think.  There can be anything between 2-6 Jeeps turn out at the moment.

Mine cost 6 quid.

Got a 90, and 2-45 degree downspouts and some round guttering tubing from focus.

Plugged the hole in the airbox with some silicone and tin, drilled a new hole in the side then went up and back to the firewall. Went through the fire wall into the area in front of the windshield.

Looks totally stock from outside, nothing to get smashed against a tree. The only way you could get water in the engine is to fill the box that the wiper motor is in (if it's that deep you've got bigger probs!!). Only hear a MINOR vacume noise on startup, after about 10 secs that goes away.

Crikey, if you get water up to the wiper motor then you certainly are in big trouble…..or upside down!!!

Looks like I have a new project for the weekend!

Many thanks, Simon.
