Un-modifying the KJ
« on: January 14, 2007, 07:20:27 PM »

It has begun:

Ok, in a small way it's begun - I'm taking off all the blingy bits of crap that came on the Liberty when I got it.

Then I can take a step back and see where to start...

And if anyone wants a pair of chrome tail-light guards for their KJ...   8)

I'm not keen on chrome on a CJ either, especially if there is loads of it.

A good point, well made Darren!

But do I remove chrome just for the sake of it being chrome?

The Liberty has a chrome grille - good or bad look, I can't decide. It came on the jeep (may even be standard on the Limited, who knows?)

I had a chrome grille on my YJ too, and I loved that, but now I wonder if it's all a bit too gangsta...

I think I'd draw the line at replacing the grille! Shit, if I removed all the chrome off my (completely standard, un-molested) Ranger, there'd be nothing left!

My wife thinks the chrome is one of the reasons why the Liberty looks so "nice".

Maybe taking off isn't the answer...

Maybe disguising is better?

I'd suggest that instead of spending dollars on replacing a perfectly good, if somewhat shiny grille, you'd be better off saving that money for a live axle conversion so you can dump the IFS :brows:

With the cost of XJs at the moment and the stoopid $/£ exchange rate, it's the way to go. Only you can lift a Wrangler/Wrongler higher for cheaper
