Hiya, finallt all sorted now, fixed rocker arm assy and new glow plugs.Seem to have developed a slow start up , After the glow plugs have gone out it takes an age to start.I read somewhere about priming the diesel. Can anyone shed any light on the procedure, should I undo the screw as I pump or lieave it tight,, the one next to the pumping thing I mean.
Anyway,,,any help will be really GREATLY appreciated..cheers guys,,and girls!!!

check your spill lines (black tubes connecting the injectors together) to see if they are nice and tight. unscrew the top of the diesel filter and pump away to prime the system, too much and it's a pain to screw the plunger back down. Turn key and hopefully it should start easier

you should have a bleed screw on the filter....10mm spanner size, bleed air from that first till you have clear diesel coming out...(put drain tray under engine).then bleed the injection pump it has a similar size screw on the pump body.what type of primer pump do you have?my one you just pump no need to unscrew it.
any more problems let me know.

Thanks again for the reply.I have what I think is the pump on top of my filter, which in turn sits over the "water bowl".The pump looks like a white dial that I undo and just pump up and down.It extends about 2 inches above the filter. Will have to have a look for the other pump you mention, cant seem to find it....dont you just love jeeps

ok...with your system you only have the filter bleed screw not one on your pump.so just make sure its free of air.if your engine runs ok you have no air in the system.if you are just having to crank along time to start it then air is getting into the system through a loose fitting so make sure all the feed lines to the pump are ok. next look for a faulty leak off hose on the fuel injectors.check all the leak off pipes and if the ends look a bit rough then trim a bit off with a pair of side cutters.
check that the rubber blank on No 4 injector is ok and not split.

Still no joy, No air leaks, no fuel leaks. So I removed the glow plugs and then, stood outside the drivers door with my arm through the windowand turned the key, watching for any heat to hit the glow plugs,NOTHING. Slightly confused I traced the glow plug leads back to the fuse box.GUESS WHAT, both the 50 amp fuses that supply the Glowers had gone.I think that might have affected my starting problems,,,dont you,,,!!!!
DERRR,,,MY HEAD HURTS
