noisy heater
« on: October 15, 2007, 12:00:13 PM »

hi my heater seems to make a hissing noise when switched on (hot or cold)  noise comes from the passenger footwell. someone had said it could be a leak from my air con .... any ideas???

If it's been doing it for a while it is very unlikely to be the air con, if it was all the gas would have escaped by now.

Does the heating/cooling work okay?

Mine does that and the aircon is fine. I just turn up the radio.

It's probably just the expansion valve in the A/C doing it's thing. Also check all the heater controls work as some of the bits are vacuum operated.

if the engine is off and you switch the heater controls to the off position and to cold, do you get a pshut noise? if so it is the air actuated stuff working. mine does it. 8)
