Spring over conversion.

Can I get away with a spring over axle conversion on a CJ7?
I'm turning a lot of Jeep ideas around in my head as we slip into winter.
I went to look at a CJ5 with a SOA conversion (unfinished)
Ha ha what a joke you needed a rear prop that would drive through about 75 degrees.
I'm probably gonna have prop troubles with a CJ7 but at least there's an extra 10" length in the drive train.
I'm not decided between T176 or 727 auto tranny yet, the O/L of the transmission will most likely be an issue.

pray tell what the 727 would be comming from  :?:  as very late grand waggys came with them in a very most exelent box
full traction do a bolt on soa kit i want at some point i would like one
i strongly favour autos but a t176 is a good alternative

727 torqueflight is in that weird rotbox yellow LHD CJ that I dragged back from Barnett a few weeks ago.
I posted some pics of it on here somewhere.
It don't drive too well but I've only been around the field on it so far.
I don't mind making up the SOA conversion myself, I plan to beef up the Corp20 axle case anyway.

i dont recall a 727 fitted to a cj they are generally th400 early cj7s and then 904 torqueflight and mostly 999 torqueflight 727 deffo were fitted to late fsj wagoneers as i did have a 91 like so many things alass i sold it to raise cash :cry:

Dunno offhand.
I'm sure the info I found said CJ7 1976-79 with Quadratrac =GM TH400
1980-86 with 258 I6 a727 + Dana 300
1980-86 150/151 a999 + Dana 300.
It's definatly got a Dana 300 and centre drive rear axle.
Engine is 258, axles narrow corp 20 rear 3.54:1

Can't see much of the auto box cos the skidplate is in way
