after a bit of a poke around it would seem the turbo is shot but the engine i think is fine but on the up side i have managed to get a fresh engine for a shade over a 100quid so i will swap turbos over and see how we go from there i have put off fitting a snorkel till now as they dont make them for cjs but i will now have to make somthing

update time the scrambler is now back on the road after a bit yuri geller style metal magic from shep he was a bodyshop dude before he let his hands go soft
i made rather a nice job shotgunning the new paint half a side and rear quarter so all that was left was repair the rear Axel brakes and studs remove the truckcab fit full soft top and refit out with seats and seatbelts for six  and then it was mot time
and whoopee doo it passed first time that was 3 weeks ago and i am surprised now at how much i have missed it its a tool an i love it its just a great combo of a v8 and auto and it just makes me want to get the other scrambler built up and on the road
but there is a dilemma do i go v8 360 or 401 or 258 super six i call it that cus its a fully rebuilt 4.2 with twin choke webber conversion a hipo hei dizzy and its very sweet and not to thirsty
that would still leave me with a v8 auto cj7
and my turbo diesel cj7 the [gt] unless i sell it which is also a dilemma sell it to help fund my other jeeps or keep it to subsidize the running costs of the others as will clear 35 to the gallon but there again it yet another truck to keep on top of

so folks if you were me working on no budget with just spanners and good looks to get you by what would you do

'Cos I love tinkering with engines (never finish them, just put them on a stand and play!), I'd say you've got to do something with that 401. Either put it in a CJ or start a basic rebuild / tune on it ready for the future or to sell on - Do you think it'll fit in an XJ
