Hi, new member :) Want to replace the factory head unit...
« on: January 15, 2008, 02:42:38 PM »

Hiya people :)

I wish to replace the factory head unit in a UK 2002 Grand Cherokee LTD and would like some advice...

Im looking to replace it with a double DIN unit and would like to know if Im to expect any issues with space behind the dash and/or if there is a fascia adapter available that would make this easier or is it a custom fit job?

Cheers in advance!!

I believe you can get a fascia adapter, but you've also probably got the Infinity Gold system, with amp under the back seat. This means it could be quite a job having to re-wire the speakers or getting loom adapters.

Thanks for the replies :D

Is the fascia that you both have for a double DIN unit?

I know this might be nosey but do you have pics of your units installed?

With regards to the factory amps, if this car has them then I can get hold of the wiring harness which by-passes it :)

This is the unit that Im replacing..  could you let me know if it is the Infinity system?

Many thanks!

Look on the speakers in the front door - it will say Infinity Gold on them. Or look under the back seat - you'll find an amp.
