Any first hand experience of a good replacement radiator supplier?

I just got a replacement delivered and went to fit it, but of course it was not even close to fitting.
 I could make it fit if I hacked off existing brackets and welded on new brackets for the electric fan and the engine fan cowlings but I don’t have the facilities to do that.

Everything looked good on paper priced at £149 delivered, and it was quoted as a replacement for the correct jeep part number 5202 8537, it was a right hand drive type with the oil cooler on the right side but the bottom mounting bar was all wrong.  

It’s getting picked up tomorrow and a full refund but I’m back to square one, so apart from around a £350 job from a jeep dealer is there any other good options that members here have used and found to fit ok on a uk jeep?

the other option if you havent thrown away the old radiator is get it recored. what they do is reuse the plastic headers and crimp a new core in place. the price probably is around the £110 mark but that's a guess. have a look in the yellow pages for radiator makers/repairers local to you

52028537 is the correct part number for '98,'99 and '00 models but other years have different numbers.

Hi,
    I bought a brand new radiator for my 1993 XJ from these people
    http://www.aaronradiator.co.uk/   it arrived next day and was all metal construction,  no plastic end caps like the old one.  It cost less than half the dealer price.
  The radiator was made by these people
    http://www.nissens.dk/uk/index_auto.htm  who must be one of the biggest makers in the world.

Hi xjman, yeah it was aarons i got the wrong one from, it was a good looking rad but just not the right one for my year.

They tell me August before the correct one comes back into stock.

Seems like a good company, they refunded the cost in full, even the shipping both ways.

think I am just going to get a re-core done locally, but £180 is the best quote i can get round here.

Had my yj re-cored for £130 " Serck International" they sent it to there depot in Bristol, the first core was porus under presure testing so they fitted an aluminium core due to the delay (nice). Would have cost £140. inc.

they are very good and can supply new or re-core or re-condition aswell.

Have Lighthouse or Mansfield 4x4 been tried???

Hi, I tried Mansfield but their web site was down, never knew about lighthouse.

I just got a recore done locally, I think turning up on a Friday with cash ready kind of spurred them on to give a discount and do it on the spot. (£160) done in 2 hours and seems to be a copper fined core.

What I have found out is most replacements seem to be coming from Nissens in Denmark and sold under various names and costs. I tried one at the start of this but found none of the fan plastics would fit the bottom of the radiators cut out mounting slots, it’s a bit of a lottery to get the right one.

Who are you using for the re-core, mines started seeping around the crimped joints on the sides.

It’s Norwood radiators in Whitburn, West Lothian, it’s just a few miles from me but something like 500 miles from you I think.

Mine is only back in the jeep in a few days now so we’ll see how it goes, I’ve never had a re-core done before, that’s why I was keen to just buy a new one. I would still have been happy with one of those replacements if I could go along to the shop and make sure it was the right one, they look good.

By the way I’ll need to get a few pictures of my jeep up, looks like yours, a green orvis.
