its shagged i am sure of it  i have tried to charge it using a charger that is suitable for both gel and normal but it just wont take a charge and the faulty warning goes off on the charger sometimes      can the smart members confirm my asumption there is no mad trick to frighten it back to life

you need a charger with a "deep cycle" (snap on sells them) to have any chance of reviving the tat-tima.......i suspect it's FUBAR

uumm yes i remember i wonder if that is a jk problem
but back to mine i am sure its shagged but i just couldnt bring myself to sling it in to the scrap yesters

my old charger was good but died last year it was over twenty blue point
my curant [get it] one only says gel /standard so may not have ability but it has charged the other two from dead flat

the batteries ive had have been "drop tested" where two metal prongs are placed on the terminals and basically short the battery out. there is a dial that connects the two prongs together which shows the state of charge. note that the battery is shorted out for a couple of seconds or the prongs weld themselves to the terminals.

Yep! We have a digital tester at work that tells us what cold cranking amps the battery can supply. It gives state of charge percentage, and state of health (%CCA).

Optimas are way too delicate and I think Peter's description is best - TAT.

You can get a suitable charger from Devon 4x4 for about £70 but it still might not recover the charge. When I spoke to them I ended up buying an Odyssey because of their views on Optimas

we have brought them back to life by trickle chargeing them for a week then had them start to take a charge

wahoo, im back after almost 2 months of no computator \/

bubba get yourself a charger that has no trip out (or bypass it!!!!) on it an can be switched to a low charge of arround about 2 amps an hour.(or just what ever the low charge is) it took a compleatly nakkered blue top of mine almost 2 weeks to revive but it worked!!!!!

its nakkered again now but its atleast 6 months on an i only use it to start the vehicle once a month an only run it for 5 mins if its lucky. if i was to use it atleast once week as i did when i first revived it im positive it would still be running strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

x2 on the slow charge. I've been given several ex-KJ optima's that i leave on the slow charge for a day or so, they all come back to life.
