Is there such a concern running vehicles over the 100k mark these days...service stamps seem to go up to 120k...

it really all depends on the way the engine runs, an example would be a low revving diesel will  go for a few hundred thousand miles, simply because it is slow revving and therefore wears the bearings etc at a slower rate, A high revving, highly tuned engine won't last as long due to the stresses it induces, jeeps like most US based cars don't rev particularly high so hence they will do high milages with ease.

Of course how regularly it is looked after also makes a big difference.

I can remember when they bought out the 16v vw golf engine they weren't considered to be run in properly til they had 100,000 miles under their belt.

current jeep running with 140,000 miles and no issues

i have had 3 diesel golfs all in aexcess of 130,000miles (bodywork failed on two and a diesel pump throttle return spring failed on the other which was worth more than the car to repair)

1 petrol golf 160,000 miles sold on for a four door.

2 beetles unknown mileage as it doesn't apply for these as the engines just run and run.

if the engine oil anf filter are changed at regular intervals then you can expect high mileages out of any car. it's just when cars are driven hird and not realy looked after

My old golf tdi had 180k on the clock before i sold it on and still went really well.
Mondeo Taxi i use to work on had 400k before the owner sold it on because it was to old to carry on and it's still going strong if a little rough looking now.

I had a 1.6 petrol Astra to 185k miles and it was only the re-con gearbox giving out that caused me to scrap it.

Jeep currently on 125K and I think it'll keep going for a long, long time.

We have had several Peugeot diesels (mostly 406s) at work going to 200k before scrapping and it's not normally an engine problem that scraps them.

I just picked up an 02 Ford Focus Est with 144K, FSH, took it for an MOT and they could'nt find anything wrong with it, the best thing was the price,  just 1400 quidlies.  Seriously, it drives like new.  It was a lease car and most of the miles were motorway ones.
