For the last month or so during the cold weather my jeep has only managed short trips every 2nd day. Went to start it the last day and it kinda struggled. Acoording to the battery gauge I was kinda down a few volts but when running it reads 14. New battery or needing another decent journey to charge her up?
  I`m guessing its the same with most 4.0ltrs?

yep, just need to make sure the posts are in the right corners and the leads are too short to swap. Oh and dont bother with a fancy make, just get the biggest CCA battery you  can that will fit, I paid around £45 last time for a 700CCA battery, think it was a banner one

Short trips will not charge it properly. Get a charger and charge it overnight.
