jeep heater matrix
« on: December 29, 2008, 11:15:56 PM »

1998 cherokee jeep 2.5 td uk recently purchased.a month ago
sorry for multiple posts tonight-- brilliant site by the way.
as mentioned elsewhere ihave a leak on the heater matrix , i started gutting the dash area but with the temperature dropping to bloody freezing in yorkshire, i have temporarily chickened out and shoved some wynns in.
however any tips on replacing the matrix in uk models would be much appreciated.
to make things easier, dont laugh, i was thinking of doing away with the aircon altogether, but this would mean the pump running dry i suppose?

also in full screen position i seem only to get a bit of semi warm air in the centre of the screen, again dont laugh, im thinking of putting a length of drilled cable trunking accross to distribute the airflow to where its needed.

although originating from sunny america, im told the heater is normally quite good

ps seems a shame to replace the beautiful existing radio tape player with a cd player, any suggestions, i suppose a remote cd changer would work.

any thoughts on my ramblings much appreciated

there aint no tips just keep taking things off till you get to it, a pig of a job but doable just remember where things came from :-?

the heater should be perfectly ample when it works correctly :-D

remote cd changer was on limited models and I think it will wire into the standard head unit but I am sure that soemone will confirm if this is correct

thanks gary.
just been reading a few posts on this, and it seems the instument cluster and possibly the steering collumn has to come out. this refers i think to usa models, i dont know if this applies to export rhd models.

for the couple of days a year i would use aircon, it would make the job a lot easier to disable it ,it would save refilling the refridgerant and pressurising the system etc which i think is a professional job, well it was just a thought.

thanks again
