Gremlin lurkin in my lectrics
« on: November 16, 2008, 11:09:41 AM »

My 53 plate Cherokee Sport, KJ/Liberty, call it what you want, has got this little lecky problem, it's been to the dealers several times and they can't find a fault, i've had it new from November 03.

Now this is the problem, every now and again the interior lights come on of it's own accord, and that is with them turned of on the stalk, and of course overnight, when you can't see it, it flattens the battery, gggrrrrr, they go out if you try any door handle or try to lock/unlock it on the fob.

Now i know when it first came out the KJ had a few niggles on it, most of which was sorted under warranty, dealers even put a new light stalk on, didn't stop the lights comming on tho', now has anyone come across this problem cos it's driving me nuts, i've even bought one of those jump packs just in case we're out and it's died, she is now on her third battery, a wet cell this time, had enough of those gell batts, surely a battery should last a bit longer than a couple of years?

Look forward to all your idea's and trying them out.

Try disconnecting the boot switch.

Cheers for the info Mike, looks like you have cured my gremlin, interior lights have stayed off........but as i have gotten used to the dash lights turned down low, the other night going to work i noticed that the dash lights went bright for a second, as if an extra lump of lekky went thro the system, is there owt to be worry'd about?
Don't fancy new alternator, stealers want nearly three hundred quid for one,   gulp.
