IS it pulling when you are driving or when you are breaking

Might be worth getting 4 wheel tracking if it is, the geometry

will have changed with the lift but not sure in what way :-?

i would think it is under acceleration and i would say its torque steer. lift+muds+v8+foot= wiggle wiggle. just a guess.

No just normal driving, have to hold the wheel to keep it straght or it just wants to pull to the left,  (could it be it just wants to go off road)

lift the front end your self and try just rotating the wheels one at a time by hand and see how they feel. might be a duff hub or front uj dragging. even try swaping the wheels about and try that.

one point it could be the camber of the road. it has been known to offset the wheels slightly i.e the left hand one slightly forward of the right to compensate for the camber of the british roads. if your wheels are perfectly parallel then the jeep might pull to the left.

You said that after the lift, the steering wheel was not lined up.
It sounds to me that the steering box is try to self centre, as you've lifted the suspension you've pulled the steering drag link to the side. because of the 2" lift the ends on the drag link will need screwing out a bit to allow the pitman arm to centre up again. The power steering box"thinks" there is a bit of right lock on so the hydraulic side of the box is trying to return to centre.
I'd have a look at the drag link, if you haven't altered it when you did the lift that's the problem, if you did alter it, it may need a bit more adjustment.

Just a question on the subject of WJ springs, if anyone can help.
Are the front springs different rates between the 4.0 and V8? or do they all use the same front springs?
It's just i've been told that these are the best springs to use on my CJ6 project and i was curious if there was any difference.

Hi mate thanks for the above, I did have to adjust the Drag link to sort out the steering wheel, what I dont understand is the bit about the "steering box trying to self center", I had thought this myself, but how dose the box know when its straght :?: can you alter the Pitman arm on the sterring box shaft:?: dont think thats the way though, I now think its that the front axel is not quite "square", (or even the back one,) if so thats new controle arms next job) this I would think would not show up well on the tracking, as when statanary the wheels could be lined up, but when driving the wheels would try and "self center" on the axle (not the car), any thoughts   still, its something to think about, oh and its only a slight pull, just enuff to "get on your wick"

4 wheel alignment should determine the thrust line to ensure both axles are parallel or to the angle desired by the factory.

Caster on the front axle greatly affects the return to centre of the wheels when steering. I assume it is within specs if you've had it aligned but is could be worth increasing the caster to the limit of the specified range if the return to centre isn't as good as it was.

There should also be some, small adjustment available on the control arms for alignment purposes. On an XJ it is shims that adjust the body-side mount position of the lower control arms. You could get about 5-10mm adjustment using these.

I am very interested in this because my XJ does exactly the same thing since going from 3.5" to 6" lift. I've been a bit too lazy to adjust anything yet as it is only very slight and a very minor imperfection compared to some of the early problems I had. What I also think it may be (as suggested earlier) is that the n/s front axle could need pushing forward a little to account for road camber - I might have a go at the weekend

Don't know if its the same on a WJ but my Grand had cam bolts on the lower front control arms (axle end) which would give you some adjustment for altering the front axle in relation to the rear.

Cherrs, thanks for that, will have a look when I get time, it says nothing in the w/s manual about any adjustment on the controle arms
