« on: January 13, 2009, 03:20:33 AM »

Hello,i have just bought a 2000 grand cherokee 3.1 td auto with 120k regularly serviced, the problem is that when i accelerate mostly slowly at pulling away speeds engine can be cold or warm, the engine hesitates for a second or to or seems to die for an instant i then lift off the accelerator when this happens then depress it again and it picks up ok as normal.
This problem can happen at random, sometimes its ok another day its back can anyone help me many thanks.

If it's a common fault, then you don't have to live with it. If it's a fault it can be fixed. Sounds like an electrical issue on the fuelling somewhere IMO.

Many thanks for your help, well if its a common fault then surely the jeep technicians must know what the cause of this hesitation is,it gets on my nerves and can be dangerous, my jeep took a hell of a dive while pulling out of a junction once.

suck squeeze bang blow, that's all an engine is, if is doesn't run as it did from the factory surely the problem is resolvable.

It's either going to be fuel, air, or timing?

They're alarmingly slow from a standing start (usually when there's a truck heading straight for you) but shouldn't hesitate once they get going.
