« on: February 08, 2009, 06:22:27 PM »

My ABS warning light has come on two mornings in a row. Both morning it was very cold with alot of snow. Drive the jeep for 5 mins turn it of and start it back up and there is no light. Doesnt come back on either. Did 150 miles with out it coming back on.

Any ideas????

There is now a new problem.

Since having  my tyres changed last week the ABS light is on and will not go out. They lifted the car on a 2 post ramp to change the wheels i dont know if this makes a diffrence.

ABS is no longer working and light is on constantly.

Someone above recommened cleaning the sensors, I cant even find them. If someone could tell me were they are and how to remove and clean.

I need any help you guys can give me on this as i am due to tow my boat next weekend and im not keen on towing it with no ABS .

Cheers

Are the tone rings damaged

took a chunk out of one of mine when changing a uj

ABS came in straight away then shut down each time I used the jeep

if you take the wheel off you will see the hard brake line and flexi pipe going to the caliper, close to it you will see an electrical wire which dissappears into the hwheel hub. this is the ABS sensor wire. the sensor is a small magnet which measures the pulses from the castlated ring on the prop-shaft as it goes into the hub. these sensors collect alot of muck which stops it from sensing so give it a clean and make sure it is 90 degrees to the tone ring and then see if that makes a difference.
