With the rising costs of garage labour I would say the garage has quoted for a days work. A low quote for labour near me is £75 an hour ex vat.

I have fitted one myself (with Warthogs help) and there are a few things that can cause a headache but if you got all the right tools and a vehicle lift and transmission stand/support on wheels and know exactly what you are doing I would say 5-6 hours for a proper job including checking seals a thorough clean and emery of the fly wheel. Unless its a Auto and then I aint got a clue.

I've changed the gearbox in my YJ in under 3 hours, single handed and without a lift. More than once.....
