Could someone please give me a quick run-down how to proceed?

Will be replacing them Monday if weather is nice.

Cheers

It's relatively easy - remove the black plastic cover between the front bumper and radiator grille - this will then reveal the securing bolts, from memory they are x4 torx head.

If you don't have a "wibbly wobbly" drive bend the grille - or struggle with spanner.

I've ripped off the big plastic things on the bumper ends (they didn't want to come off nicely). I have more access now but discovered that I don't have a 15mm ring spanner. Gonna have to get one from Hellfrauds tomorrow.

Are you sure that's 15mm? it's only jeep still uses imperial size - so that would be a 5/8s....But then I could be wrong

I'm sure your are right but from all the sockets I tried 15mm was a bit tighter than the imperial closest match (fit)  :-?

5/8 is nearer 16mm.

Imperial fit was 19/32 but I still used 15mm spanner as as haven't got an imperial.

Bushes been replaced.

Since it's a nice day I'm gonna see if I can take off the hard top and take it for a spin.

On the 97 TJ the fasteners are about half and half metric/imperial with more metric coming into use through the years. On the 2006 model there's not too much imperial used. That bolt is a 15mm head on an M10x1.5x35mm threaded bolt on all years.

word to the wise for anyone replacing these. either have both front wheels on the ground or both in the air when you undue the bolts. if you only have one side on a jack you may be in for a surprise and not a nice one. lol. Saw a person break their wrist when the ARB unloaded on them a few years ago.
