Have a looksee if the bolts on the flex drive are loose or if the drive is breaking up.

checked flexi drive and shaft both ok.  The rattle is coming from the cover on end of pump.  Is this the clutch as it is floating in and out when engine is running and feels loose. Cheers. :?

That's the cover/drive adapter, the clutch is inside it. If it's really loose and noisy i'd remove the drive before it breaks up and damages something. You need to get it repaired or replaced by an A/C specialist.

Yes, unbolt it from the A/C compressor and the back of the PAS pump.
