Does anyone know or have seen  of a diesel engine transplant that could replace the VM engine

Anything pretty much could be made to fit. My preference would be the frontera 2.8 (not the trooper one ;) )

VAUXHALL has dropped the Isuzu 2.8 litre direct injection from its Frontera engine range and switched to an all new Italian-built 2.5 litre turbo diesel from VM Motori.

depends on the cc's I guess

Nope, the 2.5 is the VM - not a bad engine if they work :S

The 2.8 is an isuzu lump, but the trooper one has 90bhp, the frontera has a front mounted intercooler, tweeked fuel pump and puts out 115bhp with about 250 ft lb of torque, and they are 10 a penny due to them being in frontera's ;)

they weren't built to be quick and there is not alot you can do to make it faster.

there is not direct diesel engine swap. any diesel engine you want to swap will involve some hassle and problems connecting the electrics.

speed = 4ltr petrol

What about a 4.2 turbo diesel unit from a Toyota Landcruiser??

I'm not sure which vehicles have the 5.9 Cummins over here - they're fitted to the larger dodge pickups in the US. My sister's horse lorry has one and it's a massive , heavy f#cker - I don't think you'd ever get it into the engine bay of a Cherokee.

Leyland Roadrunner, Leyland Swift midi bus/chassis. But just cus it says Cummins 5.9
on it doesn't mean it's the same as the 5.9 in a RAM 3500. The 5.9 is very tall and
a straight six, so it's probably too long.

Bugger weighs in at 700 odd pounds..... 6BT

and the 4 BT that some US guys have used has VERY narrow power band.

Last half million miles tho..... run off chip fat or whatever.... still be running after the big mushroom cloud......
