2.5" lift questions
« on: April 14, 2009, 11:57:14 AM »

I decided to get the RC 2.5" lift kit and further down the page it has a list of recommended accessories. My question is do I have to get a steering stabilizer and a rear track bar bracket or will it be just a waste of money? I got no clue what those thing do...

Also is there a UK supplier or do I have to order direct from RC?

Thank you

you will be Ok with the stock stabiliser and the track bar bracket will be for LHD so no use to you, although saying that you will need one modified from a LHD or built from scratch to move the axle back somewhere near centre

greggmo did mine by modding the one that came with the teraflex kit

Actually I'm planning on fitting 33x12.5 with that kit and 2" bump-stops. It seem some people have 33" tyres with just 2" lifts and 2" bump-stops.

EDIT: talking of bump-stops, do I have to get them from US too?

FrogsIsland here in the UK sell the rear RHD track bar bracket for realigning the back axle. In fact, I have one in the garage as I had my standard front and rear track bars modified so they are adjustable. The part is not essential, but desirable and you might need it for the OSR tyre to clear the spring perch especially with bigger tyres.

Also check out the OME lift/spring kits from FrogsIsland.

Phoned RC but they don't ship abroad so I'm getting it through Llama 4x4. Can't wait for it to arrive :jump:

I wouldnt do it that way as the shocks with the kit are designed for it, if you fit 2" bump stops or spacers they will botttom out speciaaly when off road and flexing. If you are going to lift it do it proper

heres another way, i have a TJ with a Teraflex 2" lift kit and a 1" body lift, 1" motor mount lift and i run 33x1050, its OK off road but crap onroad as it needs a re-gear, can put up with it for short journeys though. By the way the Teraflex lift is way bigger than the 2" it claims, there are 2 members on here who run 33's on it.
