JKS Disconnect Support Pegs for my TJ
« on: March 12, 2009, 11:44:59 AM »

I know some of you will have seen this before, but I thought I’d post it here before it gets lost when I pull the JA site.

It’s been almost a year now since I installed my JKS Disconnects and I never got around to installing the pegs to secure the anti-roll bar in the up out of the way position. I never really fancied drilling the chassis! I did the same as most people and used cable-ties!

Whilst installing my winch a few weeks back, I had to remove the plastic trim which covers the anti-roll bar and I realised I could use these existing holes to fix a bracket to and then mount the JKS pegs.

I already had some steel left over after the CB installation and it did the job just fine. I had to purchase 2 M8 x 40 mm cap screws instead of using the imperial ones supplied with the disconnects. I had to cut about 5mm off them!

The brackets needed a small dogleg bending into each of them to allow room for the nut. And as usual, the brackets were well painted and waxoyled before installation.

These photos tell the rest of the story.

PtP,  good evening Sir.  I have been following your mods for some time now on one site or another and have to admit unashamably that not have I only taken your ideas, but put them into practice on my own TJ.
This particluar one again I intend to copy.  But first I must ask, "have you found it successfull"?
no issues with tyres ripping the pins off under full lock etc.

Hi Paul,

It’s good to see you on here. The pegs have been on for a couple of years now and are still in place. There is no sign of the tyres catching them and they do the job. I’m still running on 31/11.50x15 MTs on my standard steel wheels.

If you want any more detailed pictures or measurements etc, then just give me a shout!

Thanks Peter,  Like you I have now lost the swaybar cover due to the winch plate being fitted so can copy exactly the fitting.  I will manage from here thanks all the same. (Don't make it too easy for me).  What was your reasoning for the dog legging rather than tapping the steel bar?
Regards Paul

I recall I drilled a plain hole in the bar and used a M8 nut behind it. If I had a M8 tap, then I might have tapped the hole, but I don't think I had one at the time. I reckon you could just tap the bar and not bother with the dogleg without any problems.
