can I bypass aircon with shorter fanbelt 1999 j.c. 4ltr ltd.r.h.d

I live in Bulgaria where spares cost a fortune the bearings have gone in my aircon can I bypass it with a shorter fanbelt and would it go straight on or would it need another pulley.

You can buy a replacement bracket and idler pulley to go in place of the compressor. This means you use the standard belt. Lighthouse Jeep in the UK can supply or a Jeep dealer should also be able to get the parts.
