Rust Removal on TJ ?
« on: March 21, 2009, 10:24:50 PM »

okay so I bought this 1997 TJ, had it for about 4 weeks now. just about everywhere you look on the underside, chassis, wheelwells, etc. have a fair amount of surface rust. Everyone seems to say its no big deal but i think it looks like sh*t and i'm worried the rust is going to eat away and should not go untreated.

my last jeep i never took care of the underside and this time around i'm definitely going about it differently.

I'd like to coat the whole underside, etc with a black primer that treats the rust and prevents further rust ? Any recommendations ? Can i just buy the POR-15 stuff and go crazy ? Do i need to take the rust off with a wire brush first ? Is there anywhere that I should avoid coating with POR-15 ?

What is the best way to remove, treat, and prevent surface rust on a Jeep ? any recommendations ?

thanks.

Wire brush off the surface rust to clean it up and underseal it

Don't use old engine oil; it's full of bad stuff!

I had a similar problem with my '97 TJ when I bought it 3 years ago. I gave the whole underside a really good power wash including inside the chassis rails using a drain clearing attachment. I them let the vehicle thoroughly dry out and the applied copious quantities of clear Waxoyl with a garden sprayer and the proper Waxoyl applicator for inside the chassis. The vehicle regularly gets power washed and there are no signs of any fresh rust.

I subsequently discovered Waxoyl produce a black version of the stuff which might be better at hiding the current surface rust.

Just keep the stuff off the brakes and the exhaust!

Pressure wash and dry thoroughly, remove as much loose stuff as possible with a wire brush, paint with rust inhibitor, coat with a good primer, coat with stonechip, coat with Waxoyl. Don't use old fashioned underseal, it hardens after a while and traps moisture underneath, making the rust worse.

Re: World of Warcraft Mining Guide

Mining is one of the most useful World of Warcraft skills because ores and the jewels mining uncovers are used for so many crafting professions and therefore sell very well on the Auction House. Here are some WoW mining tips and tricks to find rare nodes, learn rare smelting skills, and make wow gold as you level your mining skill.
One of the worst parts about leveling mining is when you are getting out of the Tin phase before the Iron phase. It's hard to find a large quantity of Tin, and it becomes tedious farming it. The easiest way to level up to 125 is to go to the Wetlands and find Thelgan Rock; WoW Gold it's near the entrance to Dun Algaz, the location is 53,64. The cave there is full of spiders and Incendicite Ore that's used for a quest, but only Alliance. Unfortunately, the ore itself is worthless and only used to complete the quest but you can mine it from skill 65 until about 125. The nodes respawn quickly and you can level up your mining in less than an hour if you're the only one in the cave. You can also sell the Incendicite Ore on the Auction House to make a little extra world of warcraft gold in the process - get the quest from Pilot Longbeard in The Military Ward in Ironforge.
WTF!!!
