banging noise on 96 jeep grand cherokee

hi all hope you can help?i have a banging noise coming from the drivers side wheel area, you can feel it on the foot well, happens at all speeds but can be heard most when on rough road or if going over a bump and a clunk will be heard any ideas folks?

First place I'd look is your anti-roll bar and control arm bushes.  Then check all the joints and bushes in the steering.  Chances are something is worn.

I have exactly the same thing on my ZJ! Its the anti roll bar! When I disconect it going off road the noise totaly goes! So either get disconects or do the bushes! To be honest mine aint been conected for months :D

cheers for the advice but how do i tell which is the anti roll bar and how do i remove it if i choose to :D

Its a bar from hub to hub, runs from behind each hub mounting, as you look at the hub it will be in th left hand side of the assembly, and a mirror image on the other side. Its busheled and  curves foward before curving back towards the opposide side.
