Front panhard zg
« on: June 20, 2009, 09:55:55 AM »

The ball joint on the front panhard is worn, having a very quick look it's a one piece part (the whole panhard), doesn't anyone know if it's a rebuildable joint or am I going to have to call lighthouse and order a whole rod :(

Anyone any idea on the price of one?

Cheers.

(and who put the bump stops that close to the springs on the rear, it's a pita getting the rear panhard set in the correct place !)

Humm, wonder if it's worth taking it off, cutting off the ball joint having the end threaded and make it replacable?

Anyone have a spare panhard so I can still use the car  :brows:

have a looksee, below
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-8-x-3-4-UNF-Rose-Joint-High-Misalignment-Angle-RH_W0QQitemZ380121886963QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item588107b0f3&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A30

then get some high miss-alignment spacers
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-8-to-1-2-Rose-Joint-Reducers-High-Misalignment_W0QQitemZ200290702790QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2ea24195c6&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A30
you'll also need a locknut,
get a 80mm M12 bolt,nylock nut & washers
get the end cut off and tapped, put the above together,

then you have an adjustable trackbar

Ah your saying replace the ball joint with a rose joint. Interesting swap.

I was thinking about a high angle rose joint and just threading the end of the bar (again an adjustable panhard)

Ahhh didn't realise that the rods are tube not solid !! that make it a piece of piss.  Think that the zg one is different as in it has a ball joint, but easy enough to get and double nuts to make it adjustable  :004: :004: :004:

No, they are all solid bar, both xj and zg have ball joints on the chassis end.
:icon_redface: I have both xjx2  and 1 zg, here all have this mod

the bar needs to be cut off where it starts to deform for the ball joint, then :icon_wink: drilled & tapped for 3/4 UNF thread
