v8 exhaust ( Looking For That Burble )
« on: July 04, 2009, 08:57:55 AM »

Hi
I have a 1999 Grand 4.7, and am getting all the little jobs sorted, so now its time to start thinking about
improvements...
The engine is nice and smooth but the exhaust is too quiet and the tail pipe is very rusty.
The system looks very basic with a single pipe that runs the length of the car, with one very large
silencer and one smaller silencer.
I have searched ebay etc but no one seems to do a sports type exhaust for the 4.7!. Any ideas.

get a stainless one custom made, plenty of places around and a good installer can make it sound how you want

Hi
I have spent some time to try and get quotes, the only one I could find so far, is "Longlife" and they have
quoted £399. This does seem a bit expensive as this was for one mid box and a single pipe to rear..
In Dorset where I live, custom exhausts dont seem to exist and specialist from other parts of the country will only quote after seeing my Jeep. ( Not ideal when the round trip seems to be 250 miles to the nearest, just to get a quote! )

longlife are expensive, they charged me 700 for a system for my escort, granted it was a bit different, but a mate who used to work for longlife now owns infinity exhausts, I'm looking at around 600 for custom headers and twin lake pipes at mates rates, but for a walk in customer expect to pay around 200-250 for a single front to back without manifolds and about 500 for a 4 into 1, 2 needed for a V8, (this will include laser cut flanges and equal length pipes routed to fit) the only reason I'm getting mine custom made is I want the system outside the frame rails and I get discount :003:
