Electric Vacuum Modulator Buzz
« on: October 28, 2009, 04:08:38 PM »

 :017:

Sorted the inlet manifold. All seated nicely now new gaskets the inlet elbow and EGR valve. But now I have a new noise on my 1996 Preg 2.5Td Limited Cherry Pre facelift.

Once the engine is turned off I can hear a buzzing from under the bonnet. Open the bonnet and hey presto, My Electric Vacuum modulator (sat behind the air filter housing)  is buzzing/whining... If i pull one of the hoses off, there is a sudden gush of air and then it all stops. The engine appears to run fine but only happens once I turn the engine off. Or am I showing my complete lack of knowledge here and its a common thing?

Any ideas as to where to look first?

Thanks all in advance for you help ......  :icon_jook:

Ignore it - had two and they both do it.

There is a foam air filter built in - I cleaned that and it seemed better for a while - or just made me happier that I had done something
