smash kill my made in Taiwan Jeep alarm
« on: December 31, 2009, 01:45:18 AM »

Hi, what can I do to disable Taiwanese alarm and immobiliser fitted to my Cherokee 4 litre 1989 lhd?
After alarm failed to switch off with the key, I investigated and found sticking out the alarm back: No 1 wire, black ‘n’ red cover and a black wire to plastic covered connector, loose not plugged in (cant find anything to plug into). : No 2 one 3” long black wire rolled up like a snake having a sleep. : No 3 another exposed loose wire end covered in tape, Any ideas please?? There is a bunch of 9 or so other wires cables going into the alarm that appear to look ok.
The car has an electrical drain to the battery so I have to charge nightly so wondering if I have found the problem; if I touch the NO 3 taped up wire, the alarm goes off and doesn’t respond to key so have to disconnect battery, or is this all a symptom of low knackered battery. Please help as the alarm has made me feel like my ears are full of water. Thanks y'all

As we don't have a clue what alarm it is, it's difficult to help, and an '89 has a very different electrical system to the '93 onwards XJs we have in the UK. As far as the wires arer concerned, the black one is probably the antenna for the remotes, some may not be used as it won't be a vehicle specific system. First thing to do is make sure you have a decent, fully charged battery fitted. If it still plays up, best thing to do is remove it. Trace the wiring and find where it is spliced into the vehicles's original harness. Where you find a wire cut and rerouted through the alarm through a pair of wires, for example the starter circuit, remove them and rejoin the wire, single wires can just be removed.

Thanks for help, amongst a cluster or wires entering or leaving the alarm back there is a 2 wire, one red the other black with plastic connector, also a 2 black wire tapped up; would seem they should plug together but for some reason 2 black wire one is tapped up on connector, wonder why this is?
Alarm Model is PRO 9148.
Cheers.

might be a case of trial by error to work what the wire are connected to. Label the wires before you cut them and then see what happens. if they cause the jeep not to work then reconnect and trace back to the solder joint. I wouldn't have thought the fitter would have shortened the origional loom when the alarm was fitted
