Cherokee KJ - Stolen Key
« on: January 11, 2010, 03:31:27 PM »

Hi folks,

I got burgled last night and the thieving ?$%£ got one set of keys (key and remote fob) for my '04 Cherokee KJ.

Not satisfied with seeing me robbed once, my local Jeep stealership has just quoted me 600 quid (and a ten day wait) to fit new locks.

Any thoughts on how to solve this for less cash, so I might be able to avoid an insurance claim and keep my no claims intact for a while longer?

Cheers, Andy

The first thing to do is move the Jeep to a secure location...they have taken those keys for a reason....!

Only a Jeep dealer has the kit to program the SKIS immobiliser system to accept replacement keys.  I'd get quotes from nsom other dealers though.

Cheers for your answers. Missus has taken car with her to work, so it is now 200 miles away for the rest of the week.....

Sounds like I had better start ringing round the nice friendly franchised dealers...

House insurance should cover it I would have thought, might be worth a phone call at the very least  :icon_winkle:

i had a motorbike sotlen from my parents house, they moved two cars which were almost touching the garage door. picked the bike up and carried it out due to locks etc. somehow they didin't manage to set the car alarms off. the daft thing is my brother in law had his over stocked snap on tool kit and air tools in the same garage which was worth more than the bike but they decided to leave that

A friend of mine had his workshop broken into, once they were in they tried ramming their way out through his security door with a customers Range Rover. They failed :098:
He also had his toolboxes welded to the building's framework, so the couldn't take those either :098:

So they torched the place :097: :097: :097:
Poor bastard lost everything he'd built up over 40 years hard work, his livelyhood, his premises, 8 or 9 customer's vehicles and his workshop cat :010:

He committed suicide weeks later :jpshakehead: :jpshakehead:

With the attitude of the police force in this country you'd do better just letting them take it :017:

Any action taken one your part will result in you doing far more time than they would get for robbing 100 vehicles.

If you're really vindictive, fit a tracking device to the jeep (an unofficial one)

You'll lose the jeep but at least you'll be able to get your revenge :098: :098: :098:
