TJ intermediate service
« on: October 04, 2005, 04:54:38 PM »

My TJ is due for the 54 month service, and rather than pay £75/h labour charge at my local stealership, I was thinking of getting a local mechanic to do the work.  Lack of time and facilities make it difficult for me to do the work myself.

I know my Jeep will fit in the workshop, so long as he doesn't need to jack the rear of the vehicle up.

What does the service entail, apart from changing the oil?  Do I need a new drain plug?  Are there any special tools required, and what sections of the service manual might I need to print out?

Only one downside:

    SUMMARY
    Driving distance:  504.9 miles
Driving time:  8 hours, 19 minutes
    Cost:  £66.48

And that's each way in the rollerskate, let alone the TJ....

But what really tipped the scale was that I don't drink Stella :)

Mick, the Mopar filter I used last oil change came with a sump plug with what looked like a bacalite type moulded washer / seal attached to it.

I got it as part of a service kit on ebay from the stelardealership in Northhampton I think, so yes is the answer.

Now waits for Dr Mike to say I am talking bollox

mike yes
7500, 15000,22,500ect is £139 but the 30,000 major service add the axles price, 60,000 add the leads, pcv and serp belt.....sorry didnt make that too clear.
the 60,000 is the only oddball as most of our customers go for the full service every time unless the milage hits 45 or 60k then there is the added axles ect ect

the only mopar part we dont use is engine oil as we use vauxhall semi synth

sorry to cause confusion
