Reversing Light fuse Location
« on: March 07, 2010, 02:09:04 PM »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the location of the 'Reversing Light' fuse. Is it in the fuse box near accelerator pedal if so, what number is it?

Thanks

Fuse 10, 15 amp. If it's not that it might be the switch.

The switch is a common failing point. When you put the auto selector in R, try wiggling the stick about a bit and see if the reversing lights flicker at all. My reversing lights don't work at all, so stripping the switch will have to be done before the MOT in August. It's called something like a NPPS, it's the gizmo that won't let you start the engine when not in park or neutral. A search around these forums should yield more information than my late night drunken ramblings!

Hi Prophet,

It is a manual transmission. I'm checking the fuses today, hopefully that will be the root cause.

Cheers

Find the switch on the gearbox. There should be 12v on the white wire with the ignition on. Put the transmission in reverse, there should now be 12v on the brown wire.

The other way to tell if it's the switch is to find and unplug the connector and use a piece of wire to short the contacts on the loom. If the lights come on the switch isn't working. You can also test the resistance of the switch with a multimeter.

No it won't. Reverse lights are not covered by the MOT.
