tried to remove the free spool lever but didn't want break anything and it was a bit to tight so resorted to good old fashioned chain and padlock

also started the most importand job, getting some stickers on

tonkas were meant to be indestructable, thats what the tv advert reckoned, so my folks were less than impressed when aged 8 it took me no more that 15 mins on xmas morning to smash and mangle it with a club hammer 

now, what sorta stickers can i get for mine

I managed to break my Tonka toy without the aid of a hammer......they are definately breakable

Oh Dave, happy memories. I had that crane, the winder handles had to glued back on once or twice but otherwise a solid toy. The good part was that the grabber bucket actually worked. It would close when it hit the ground and then when wound right to the top would release and tip out what ever you had picked up (marbles, lego etc...)

So did ya ever get any inkling of which scumbag stole the original which rope?

If i was you,i would drill a hole in the bumper plate for the padlock shackle to go through and lock the winch wire direct to that.the lock looks good but the chain doesnt look like it would take much to cut through mate IMHO albeit still a deterrant i guess

there were a tribe of gypos doing the rounds for scrap, recon it was them, they seem to have moved on for now.

the chain is one of the high tensile chains from my engine balance, but your right its mainly a deterent, so long as they make enough noise to wake my puppy and get him barking, i'll do the rest

Here was me thinking that it was bad my Ramsey winch wont free spool but maybe it a blessing in disguise,although still need to get the bolts welded tpo the bumper otherwise they`ll be nicking the winch and all
