Dipped Beam / Full Beam lights don't like the cold!
« on: November 09, 2010, 12:10:13 PM »

OK so it's become a bit chilly out there since the weekend and yesterday my dipped beams refused to turn on.  Constant toggling of the switch eventually popped the dipped beams on but I can see it becoming increasingly difficult as the temperature continues to drop. This happened last winter but I put up with it until the weather warmed up and miraculously I encountered no further issues until now.  Previously, at worst, you'd have to drive with only the sidelights on for about 10 minutes then the dipped beams would suddenly flick on.  I would use the front fogs in unison with the sides as back up on dark roads until the dips came on but now the front fogs have stopped working too!

I've read about the switches being a bit temperamental so I guess I should start with replacing this?  I'd also like to know if anyone else has encountered the cold related issue as I have and why this would happen.

Oh and any suggestions as to why the fogs have stopped working too?

i'd take the lights out and check the electrical connections to start with.
