Heater core/matrix on an XJ
« on: December 07, 2010, 09:36:37 AM »

Hi  :)

How easy (or difficult) is it to replace the heater matrix/core on a 95 XJ Cherokee?

Also can anyone advise a good place to buy a replacement?

Cheers.

its a long job - as said you need to dig deep - easier than a facelift, but not much

have a look on ebay - if you are thinking of keeping it try for a new one - as you won't want to repeat it. Or look at shoving some junk in it for a quick fix

There's a thread on here where clayton and Warthog done it on a disealsel XJ. Dash out job.
Even Bubba can afford to buy 10 XJs with just the fluff in one pocket, so unless you got a lift
or lots of money in the XJ, or you have some kind of romantic attachment to it, you'd probably
be better off buying a new car.

not having ever done one or in all honesty taken a look at doing it I would say it probably is a dash out job. saying that I was told the same for the corrado I have and now I can do one in 30 mins going in thru the glovebox.

i did it on mine and its a dash out job. I ended up using wood screws to fix the heater box back in because i snaped all the plastic lugs removing it       :021:
