Heater problem
« on: November 03, 2010, 07:35:24 PM »

Hi,

This is my first post so please be gentle with me!

My heater is fine for hot and cold air but only directs to the windscreen. I wondered if this is a common fault on the Cherokee and if so is there an easy fix?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a Mark one cherokee or a Facelift version?

Hi all, firstly, my apologies for "pinching" the thread, but I've got the same problem! Mine's the facelift model ('98 2.5 TD). Any help would be appreciated, as I can only get the fan to work on demist. The temp controls fine also.
Thanks for any ideas! Col.

I dont know if its common or if I am even in the right area, but just a stab in the dark, on the facelift models the air direction controls work off the vacuum system so I would suspect a leak somewhere, I would have thought one of our resident experts would have been along already to advise from their deep experience.

Does cruise control work if you have it?

mk1 are the same as face lift. take dash apart and remove heater control panel and you will find a plug with a black pipes in check there first. even though mine had com apart at a joint that was right a the bottom of the dash by the center console.

Check the vacuum tank behind the front bumper isn't missing/broken/disconnected first.

Sorry to raise an old thread but I need the correct confuguration for the vacuum pipes at the connector behind the glove box. Im not sure where the black pipe from the engine bay connects into. All the other pipes are colour coded and it looks like on the schematic that there is a t piece to join them together? Tried to do it from the diagram but pictures are alot less :017:

I have attached photos of mine at the moment
