SMOKING CHEROKEE
« on: April 10, 2011, 02:50:09 PM »

My 2004 2.8 CRD Cherokee smokes on cold start up intermittently and will sometimes fill the road behind me with smoke only when cold but not always. The intercooler hoses have a bit of oil residue in them also. Could it be Turbo Seals or could it be something else. I've done 5k since last service and not had to put any oil in it.

the Mrs Espace does it, I have just embraced and use it for a quick smokescreen getaway ala James Bond, the kids think it is very cool  :greggmo:

Caked (edit coked-up) up injectors.  run on a couple of tanks with redex additive.

200 mil of acetone on a full tank does the same trick.

pouring nail varnish remover into ya diesel may be considered random, unless it is true - ?

Already tried acetone and also Forte diesel system cleaner. No difference. It dosen't do it every time when cold but when it does it fills the road behind me.

Not the nail varnish remover but the industrial stuff.  Our painters use it in the yard and it does work. less is best as discussed in other threads on the forum.

As for plastic...glad the kids enjoyed themselves.

Mouse have no other options so maybe some techie guys can chime in.

Fuel filter? I had a Nissan Navara that did that, changing the fuel filter fixed that problem
