belt tension

hi

Have a 2.5 diesel cherokee 2000. and need to replace an idler pulley which I have coming tomorrow, what I need to know is how to tension up the serpentine belt, any help gratly appreciated.

there is an auto belt tensioner in there :icon_winkle:

to slacken off get a 1/2" drive in the square hole and pull it back and remove the belt.

Then change your pulley (remember left hand threads) and then pop the belt back on

if the belt runs the same as the 3.1td then just slip it off the fan pully when the tension is released.  it helps to have three hands as well!
