ZJ audio question
« on: February 11, 2011, 11:05:59 PM »

the ZJ has come with a std radio/cassette unit, it has a CD button so I'm assuming it has a plug on the back for a CD changer, I don't want to fit a changer but have a iPod cradle that will plug into a pair of RCA sockets, so need to know what type of CD changer plug it has so I can get an adaptor, I know I could take out the head unit and look but it seems a PITA job and would rather only do it once when I fit the adaptor

Most factory stereo systems that have add on CD changers use a multi pin plug not RCA, the easiest way to play your Ipod in a non adaptive unit is using a FM controller, its a small module that plugs into the base of the Ipod and your music is sent via a dedicated FM wave to the radio, i.e. you tune your radio into a pre determined frequency. They are fairly cheap. Say >£10

Here's a link to some on ebay.

don't like the fm transmitters, and don't want to change the std head unit, there are plenty of cd changer plug to phono adaptors out there i just need to know what socket is on the back of a P4704345-G and i can use the powered iPod cradle that i have here.

suppose i should have asked what cd changer will work, from that i can get the adaptor

I don't know about the ZJ, but the Cherokee (99-01) had a round plug.  The Cherokee KJ (05-07) had a square plug.  I used the Grom Audio device to plug my ipod into the latter.

Be uber careful with ipod adapters. Blitzsafe is the best, and it works - always. I was fooled into buying
a cheaper one at first and had to send it back before getting a Blitzsafe.

Or what I'd do personally is get a fascia adapter and put a new stereo in it with USB/mp3 CD/aux in capability,
they're pretty cheap.
