This doesn't feel very technical....
Even WITH the manual, I'm having trouble working out how one is supposed to use the built in roof bars on the XJ. Do they function as a regular roof bar that you'd clamp on to rails (e.g. you can attach a bike carrier stright to them) or do they require additional parts? I only ask, as my old ford has Cross bars but the manual clearly states that they're to reinforce the car and NOT to attack things directly to them.
I want to make use of the roof for bikes, so I'm not interested in fitting a cage (which is what I keep running in to when searching on this subject!) and since it's a Jeep on the Cheap, I don't really want to buy any extras, so if it's not OK to mount stuff stright to the cross bars, the 'roo will have to contine as the bike lugger.
Thanks in advance...
