still got troubles in France
« on: August 06, 2011, 01:17:51 PM »

After some tinkering and talking, the jeeps system was reset and all fault codes removed.

Its been changing though its gears perfectly again so all was good.

Today I have been out, into drive and clunk, stuck in third again. Into reverse and its jumps into that gear as well.

Now a couple of other issues, with it. With the caravan on all the caravan lights go amiss, but only when hooked up to the jeep. Second issues is as the gear box starts to play up the fan heater stops working. No air blowing at all.

But when the gears were ok the fan was ok.

What the blood hell is going on. Got to tow 350mile home tomorrow!

Hi - i think it's electrical with many electrical failures.  First, check the earth straps, engine to chassis, negative to battery, etc  Hope you get it sorted.

bet its a wiring problem with the caravan loom/ tow bar installation then probably earthing back thru the loom and throwing out transmission control.

Ah but it was doing it before we had the caravan on Rob. The fan stopped working whilst hitched up though.

Just hope its not big bucks when I get home, as big bucks I don't have.

wd40 squirty and toothbrush
hooking up our van threw the jeep into disarray with lights, could just be some grit faulting one connection and that's an excuse for naughtiness all
round.  :icon_sad:

Well I am back in Blighty, fair play to the jeep, just 3rd gear but it still towed at a steady 65mph, just a bit thirsty.

So still only 3rd, no blower fans (interesting in the pouring rain and misting up).

Caravan lights, will do the Momo's remedy first before I start on that one but prob the caravan hook up wiring to be honest as its a bit shity.

Planning to meet up with Rob tomorrow to get the scan tool on it and go from there.
